The Missisquoi girls hockey team made the trek down to Hartford on Wednesday and saw a two-goal lead slip away from their grasps.
The Thunderbirds opened up with a 2-0 lead before seeing the Hurricanes score three unanswered in the 3-2 game.
Karissa LeClair got the scoring started with a goal assisted by Rory Schreindorfer and Brianna Parent. Lora Fresn made it 2-0 with eight minutes to go in the second, as she scored on a rebound off a shot by Schreindorfer. It was Schreindorfer’s third assist in the past two games.
From there Hartford came away with three consecutive goals, as it handed Missisquoi its second one-goal loss of the season.
Madison Conley made 16 saves for the Thunderbirds.
“We struggled to keep pressure after getting the two-goal lead,” said Missisquoi coach Brian Fortin. “We let off the gas, and are still looking to play that complete game and need to learn to play to protect a lead.”
The Thunderbirds fell to 1-3 on the year and will host Rice on Wednesday for its next game.
