After trailing by a goal after the first period, the BFA-St. Albans girls hockey team scored three unanswered in the second to come away with a 3-1 victory over South Burlington on Saturday night.
Molly Smith and Reese Clayton scored their first goals with the Comets in the game, while Caroline Bliss added a goal. Sophie Zemianek, Rae Alexander and Jodie Gratton each had assists for the Comets.
Macie Boissonneault had 10 saves for the Comets, who outshot South Burlington 37-11 in the game.
Both teams served five-minute major penalties in the game with BFA’s coming in the second and South Burlington serving one in the third.
“South Burlington has a few very good, young players,” said BFA coach Luke Cioffi. “I thought the girls did a nice job playing our game. Defensively, we played solid outside of a few early breakaways in the first period. Offensively, we had some wonderful puck movement and many shot opportunities, so we are pleased with those, but also hope we continue to find the back of the net as we move on to our next opponent.”
The Comets improved to 3-1-1 on the season and will host Burlington/Colchester on Wednesday for their next game.
